The Family Sowell is a passionate, first-generation bluegrass band based in Knoxville Tennessee. The band is comprised of six siblings, Jaob, Joshua, Naomi, Abigail, John-Mark, and Justus who perform family/friendly hard-core bluegrass music, ranging from traditional to mainstream to Gospel, across the country and Eastern Europe. They are the winners of the 2017 Jeff and Sheri Easter Talent Search Competition, the 2017 KSMU Youth in Bluegrass Contest at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO, and the 2019 SPBGMA International Band Championship in Nashville, TN. Their latest album, From Texas to Tennessee, placed at #5 on Bluegrass Today’s “Dave’s Dozen” for 2018. Their songs have also made waves in bluegrass radio. “Speak Love” broke the record of weeks as the #1 song on The Fan Voted Chart with 14 weeks and counting. “Dusty Gravel Road” was the #1 song in 2018 on Bluegrass Borderline’s “Top Ten Countdown.” “God Knows Who He Is,” a song dedicated to wounded veterans, debuted at #3 on Bluegrass Today’s Gospel Chart.
