Based on a mutual love of bluegrass, country, blues, western swing and stringband music of all kinds, the partnership of dobro/lap-steel player Rob Ickes and guitarist Trey Hensley continues to delight and astound audiences around the globe. Since joining forces in 2015 to cut their first Compass Records album, the Grammy-nominated “Before The Sun Goes Down,” the duo has continued to bring their music to venues near and far. They’re as close to home as Nashville’s world-famous Station Inn and as far away as Denmark’s Tonder Festival, as well as prestigious U.S. festivals including Rockygrass, ROMP, Wintergrass, Bluegrass Underground and Freshgrass. Their second Compass album, 2016’s “Country Blues,” testified to the growing diversity and expansion of their collaborative talents and repertoire. They were also key players on bluegrass giant Bobby Osborne’s highly lauded 2017 “Original” album, which garnered an IBMA Recorded Event Of The Year Award. They also appeared on Special Consensus “Fireball” album, Recorded Event winner for 2016.
