Writers on this panel all learned from songs of first-generation bluegrass songwriters, and from earlier traditions that influenced those writers. In this participatory discussion, we’ll each offer a fresh listen—with songwriters’ ears—to a song by an admired earlier writer, then share a song of our own that echoes or answers that source.
